Therapy for a sociopath? |
What type of therapy can be court-ordered for a sociopath (diagnosed as bi-polar with anti-social psychotic disorder) to be able to have supervised visitation for his children? What duration would be prescribed? Is there any way for this person to be well enough to be a positive influence to his children? Has not seen his kids in 2 years since he plead guilty to domestic violence with a weapon (switchblade). I would be afraid even of supervised because he is good at making people feel sorry for him and blaming others for what he does. That is why I don't think he should have any kind of contact whatsoever. Hi! I don't know if there is ANY therapy for someone who is diagnosed with that sort of disorder. Sociopaths are very difficult to treat as they have to be willing to accept they have a problem and a psychologist would need to be rather tough to be able to handle them. I can't see why they wouldn't be able to have visitation so long as it was supervised, but definitely not unsupervised. A person with this type of diagnoses will have lifelong patterns of thinking. It is ingrained in his personality. None and No. The if the diagnosis is correct, I would get as far away from this person as possible as soon as possible. There is no treatment for this diagnosis. according to studies sociopaths don't change, therapy usually don't change them much and may even help them learn how to lie more. They are the few if which therapy may not help. He needs to get in touch with his childhood and feel the pain. People only become sociopath/psychopath through extreme abuse. |
