Medicine that was meant to treat dizziness has given me vertigo? |
I told my doctor that I have been suffering bouts of dizziness/lightheadedness for the past 2 weeks. she didn't know exactly what the problem is, but she thinks there is problem with the middle ear. She gave me a prescription of Meclizine, which I took yesterday at 3 pm. Three hours later I got very drowsy and I think I had vertigo. The next morning I got vertigo again. I took the medicine but that time half of the prescribed portion and now I have been experiencing bouts of vertigo throughout the day. Isn't vertigo when your eyes can't focus and it seems that the room is moving to the side over and over? That's what I feel. Do I have vertigo, and could the dizziness that I had before going to the doctor be? I know for sure, I am not going to take the medicine again. It could cause that, I take it sometimes and it makes me very tired and spacey. You could try over the counter Dramamine but check with your doctor first. I have exactly the same problem as you. And I think I will not take that medicine anymore and will consult my doctor again, perhaps another doctor:-). Good luck! |
