3 d's - divorce, depression, dieting? |
i was raised by my loving grandmother. anytime i had problems she always made me comfort foods. i've always been fairly "healthy" (about 5'4 - 135 lbs.). after having my 2 toddlers 11 months apart (now one and 2 year old), getting out of the military and a painful divorce my weight has rocketed to 180 lbs. i'm currently on a diet and do fine during the day. at night i get uncontrolable "comfort food" cravings that i usually end up giving in to. when i do i get so mad at myself afterwards. can anyone offer me any advice on what to do? please no rude comments, i'm having enough troubles as it is. it's greatly appreciated...thank you! chew gum.....get on the computer....exercise.....you are basically gonna have to find somthin else to fill the void of eating....talk on the phone..anything that will make you stay away from the kitchen.......best of luck Change the word 'diet' into 'eating right'. Do make your meals healthy and portioned, but a (small) snack of your choice can't hurt much. Don't ever skip breakfast, and try not to eat a lot after around 7 PM. Ok girl time to take care of you! You are in an amazing time in your life where you now have the opportunity to really have some personal growth. About a year ago I left an emotionally and verbally abusive husband. I have a 4 yr old and 2 yr old twins. It is not easy, at all. So I know, okay? Within the past year I have lost 28 pounds and am 5 more away from my goal. And I've cheated a lot okay. But I've stuck with it. I am so proud of myself! I am buying myself new clothes and treating myself to things I haven't done in years. So, get yourself up, dust yourself off, and get moving! Email me through answers for more details ;-) Hi butterfly, sorry that you are going thru a rough patch at the moment. Chin up dear. About your night cravings, you have them because u do not eat enough calories in the day night. This will manifest as craving for sugary foods in the evening/night. Try to eat more complex carbohydrates in the day time like grains, wholemeal bread, brown rice (you can mix with white rice if you dont like the taste) or wholewheat pasta. Complex carbohydrates will slowly release sugar into your body and keep cravings at bay. If you need to snack keep some low carb granola bars. And of course fruits are good too. If you can deal with your selfesteem, you will deal with all of your problems. Learn to love yourself - this means when you care for the person YOU, you care for what happens to your body, your happiness and your emotions.
