Does any one know a cure for snoring other than divorce.?

Does any one know a cure for snoring other than divorce.?

Yeah I usually just get a prod in the ribs and told to roll over.

I've seen loads of devices, sprays, laser treatments etc that claim to stop snoring but they all seem about as genuine as snake oil.

From what I've heard the ways to reduce snoring are

1) Stop drinking alcohol, alcohol relaxes the muscles and leads to more snoring

2) Lose weight - I'm not sure why but its a medically recommended way to reduce snoring

dont let him sleep on his back

Lose weight. Optimum health is key.

I've heard weight loss if the snorer is a bit porky, and also cutting out alcohol in the evening should help. Personally, I think a sharp shove in the back works.

i would stik a sock in ther mouth

Tie something tight around his neck.....well they say you snore because your have too much fat around that area which restricts the airflow...so keep it tight!

Yes, losing weight would help. In the mean time, make him wear pj's and sew a golf ball into the back of the bottoms. Then, if he tries to roll onto his back in the night, he will feel the ball and roll back onto his side.

you can get these bracelets that send a little shock up the arm every time it detects snoring. dont know if they work

duct tape

Getting a divorce won't stop your snoring, have you tried eating paint?

I dont know of any cures for snoring, god knows I have tried them all. My partner snores badly. I bought a pair of earplugs for myself they seem to work well and drown the sound of him out enough so I can get some sleep. I hope this is helpful to you.

He needs to have a sleep study. May be suffering from sleep apnea. If so, a CPAP machine will take care of the sleep apnea and the snoring. My husband was an awful snorer and with the machine he never snored again.

sleep in seperate rooms

don't let him sleep lol

tape a tennis ball to the persons back and every time they roll over on their back, they won't stay in that position long--result--no snoring, only a bruise on their back.

ear plugs

Steady Mrs D, sounds like sleep deprivation is making one a tad tetchy ?

There are sleep clinics that can help.

There are nose clips, or minor nasel ops that can cure it.
Boots have an over-the-counter clip if my member serves me well

My friend curing it by making him sleep on the sofa everynight for years.

does he snore only when hes asleep on his back? if he does then sew a tennis ball or something in the back of an old t shirt make him put it on when he goes to bed, then if he tries to roll on his back it will be uncomfy and he will roll on his side.

A tried and tested method is to put a little piece of tape on either side of the nose thus reducing the amount of air that can be drawn in through the nose. This has the effect of making the person open his or her mouth to breath. Do not fully close the nasal passage as this can cause harm or even death in extreme cases.

Go to this website....http://www.helpguide.org/life/snoring.ht... There are self help tips there and also medical tips and treatments. It's the first step to a peaceful nights sleep and cheaper than a lawyer. Good Luck!!!!

Its worth checking out Lisa'a answer but there was a pillow you could buy that stopped scoring due the posture you slept in ay kept your airways free.

Not sure where you would buy one from - check out snoring on the internet or perhaps one of those shops that sell disability products.

slapping them hard then pretending your asleep normally works.!

Other than that - roll them onto their side.

Or try yelling.....stop snoring or its the sofa for you!

If Mr D is overweight and/or a late-night drinker, that will not be of help. If the snoring is very bad, a medical check-up is advisable.
If he gets the all clear, try sewing a golf ball in the back of his sleeping gear, so that he cannot sleep on his back.
There is a tape that can be clipped over the nose to supposedly keep the nostrils open, but not sure about keeping the throat open more.
Good luck.

Get a divorce is the only solution other than murder

Earplugs for the spouse and an anti-sugar, anti-gluten, anti-lactose, anti-yeast diet for the snorer. This will reduce the weight, help relieve possible allergies, and thus clear the nasal passages for quieter breathing.

One other trick that helps my snoring husband is a rag with a few drops of pure peppermint oil on it near his head. It smells good and helps keep his nasal passages open at night.

Hello,
I am actually getting a procedure to stop my snoring. The uvula (the dangly thing that hangs down from the roof of your mouth) can be surgically removed, preventing the blockage that causes snoring and the rumbly sound). Some insurances won't cover the cost, though, so ask a docotor first.
Also, as a quick fix, you can tell him to use the BreatheRight strips that are sold at any pharmacy or drug store (Osco, Walgreen's, Wal Mart)
another cause of snoring is obesity, if losing weight is possible it may help (as evidenced in my family!)
Also you may want to invest in a bag of earplugs, they only cost 2 bucks for a bag of several.
You may want to try if possible to get to sleep before he does, this will ensure you are gone to dreamland before the chainsaw starts.
Good Luck
:)

Once they fall asleep on their side put some thumb tacks behind them. If they should roll onto their back they will be woken with severe pain they will soon learn not to roll onto their back. Problem solved!

I know how you feel,I bought myself a pair of ear plugs.

shut him in the other bedroom and then get your divorce for neglect on his part
