Recently diagnosed with diverticulosis (diverticulitis inflammation put me in hospital)...?

where do I go from here? Are there any homeopathic remedies to control the condition? I would like some options other than my diet, which I am modifying as we speak. Yet to see my GI Doc or Fam. MD for followups mind you, just doing research on my own right now.

Once formed, diverticula are permanent. No treatment has been found to prevent the complication of diverticulosis, however, there are some guidelines that can be followed to manage the condition. They are as follows:

1. Eat a high fiber diet, consisting of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain bread, cereals and bran.

2. Avoid foods containing indigestible roughage, such as celery and corn, and use bran to prevent constipation.

1. Avoid straining during bowel movements.

4. Establish a normal bowel routine. Try to have a bowel movement at approximately the same time every day and spend at least 10 minutes in the attempt.

5. Add bulk to stools by eating fruits and vegetables with a high fiber content, such as seedless grapes, fresh peaches, carrots and lettuce.

6. Avoid extremely hot or cold foods and fluids (which cause gas).

7. Avoid alcohol (which irritates the bowel).

8. Lose weight if you are overweight.

9. Exercise moderately.

10. Use natural laxatives (only when needed).

11. Drink at least three (3) to five (5) glasses of water or other liquid per day.

12. Do not smoke (it irritates the gastric mucosa

I have also have it. I have added fiber pills that I take every day.

Its unlikely drugs or homeopathic remedies would be too helpful.
The structure of the gut has changed irreversibly and lost its elasticity in parts.
Diet is a helpful way to control it and keep your bowel flushed.
A colonic may help?

Just about everyone over 70 has diverticulitis somewhere and seem to manage to live with it.
It becomes a problem when fecal mater becomes stuck and a part of the bowel looses its blood supply and dies. Keeping the bowels moving helps to prevent this better than anything else.

A diet of 25 to 30 grams of fiber, at least 7 soluble fiber, would be good. Do not jump to this level all at once, work up slowly to it or it will upset your gut and cause gas. Make sure that you stay well hydrated. The underlying cause of your condition is a life history of low fiber, this actually increases the intraluminar pressure in your gut.

Look into celiac disease re: the inflammation. Glutens (wheat, processed foods) can cause inflammation in the intestines so will add to your condition.
Also I've heard aloe vera juice, or aloe vera concentrate white powder monoatomics (expensive, unfortunately) can really help, too.
Good luck to you!
