Shoulder Dislocation worries?

I have anterior dislocated my shoulder while on vacation twice in one week. The 2nd time was due to carelessness. I am a 21 year old male. My concern is that after reading about shoulder disloactions online, I am worried that i wont be able to do the things i love best anymore. Which include fishing, weight lifting and even paddling a boat. Is this true? Are those days over without surgery? I know i should visit a doctor and i have already made the appointment, but i kinda want an idea of what im going to hear. If anyone with past dislocation want to provide their input that would be nice. Thanks.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but each time you dislocate your shoulder it doubles your chance of it happening again. I should think that you could still fish, paddling a boat...depends on which side you paddle on, weight lifting is probably a no-go at least with the affected arm. After dislocating my shoulder numerous times I had to have surgery for a torn rotor cuff. Now I am back to lifting weights, bowling and all sorts of stuff although I refuse to throw a softball from the outfield now (which is how I dislocated it the first time). Just follow the doctor's orders to a T, do your physical therapy and you should be OK. Don't push it or over-do. Oh, if the surgery does happen and it is on your dominant arm, find yourself a pretty young lady to help you out, cause wiping your own tush is going to be next to impossible for at least a couple of weeks unless you are ambidextrous. Bummer dude!

Get the surgery. I have not had the surgery and I can barely move my arm fast. It has been a few years since it has been dislocated but it can happen at anytime. Get it done, you will be much better off.
