ORIF fracture and acute dislocation questions..?

Hi,

I suffered an open fracture and acute dislocation to my ight ankle around 2 weeks ago, which was treated with ORIF surgery. The break was really quite bad with the ankle joint shattered into numerous fragments of bone and I have plates and screws on both sides of my ankle. The dislocation was also severe, the blood supply was completely cut off and according to the surgeon, I was approx 15 minutes away from losing my foot. There was also obviously a lot of soft tissue/ligament/muscle damage.

I now have a short leg cast and instructions to visit my treating physician in 6 weeks time, but no information has been given to me regarding recovery time or physiotherapy requirements.

If anyone can give me any idea on approx recovery time (basically how long until I can return to work in hospitality involving being on my feet for 10+ hours) any information would be very much appreciated.

Thankyou!

Six months recovery, however it probably may never be the same. Standing on the foot 10 hours with the swelling and pain of soft tissue injury and vascular damage
