Monthly knee dislocation problem.?

I have no idea how it started or why but i seem to be getting monthly (or every few months) knee dislocation (only on my right knee). It just happened again right now and it was so bad this time it caused me to throw up. This seems to happen randomly and for no reason i.e. ill be sitting there and *pop* my knee caps gone. I then put it back into place with alot of pain.

Basically is their anyway to stop this 'permantly' or how did any of you cope with this problem or similar?

I've dealt with this problem when I was about 23yrs old (about 8 yrs ago). It will only get worse if you don't try to take care of it now. And trust me, it can get 100x worse than what it is now with out proper medical attention. I fell down many times because my knee would pop by twisting it the wrong way. It would pop while I was sleeping, walking, sitting, you name it. This went on for months (I had bad workers comp doctors).

On one occassion (the worst) I ended up breaking my left wrist along with causing my knee to rip out of the socket. That day I had to get paramedics to pick me up and take me to the hospital where the doctors had to pop my knee and wrist back into place after they drugged me to calm me down and relieve the pain. It didn't help, I still ended up passing out because of how intense the pain got to be. Then I saw an orthopedic surgeon (a good one) and had knee surgery once my wrist finally healed enough to be able to handle my weight on the crutches. It's never going to be 100% again, but it's better than risking it popping at any given time again. Because of how bad it got to be, I gained about 90lbs, went through Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and nightmares for several years, and from time to time I still get flashbacks of that day I metioned earlier.

Do yourself a favor, don't wait, go see a doctor immediately so you can get the problem fixed as soon as possible before it can become any worse than it is now.

There is obviously a ligament problem, but i can't tell you anymore than that, you're gonna need to see a doctor

There are three reasons this can happen and no one but a doctor can tell which it is for sure. Popping it back in again and again will damage it further.

You must see an orthopedic specialist who deals with knees, not all specialize in that area, so you want one who does. YOu most likely have damaged it and now it's finally showing the damage or like a cousin of mine, you were born without part of what holds the knee in place. She didn't know it until she was 17 and it kept popping in and out like yours does.

One thing for sure, you don't see a specialist soon, every time you are popping it back in place, more damage is being done.
