Minor dislocation on thumb?

I asked this question before but it was outdated. I was holding a piece of sheet rock from a wall( Yea, my school is a piece of crap) and my friend punched through it. It broke and I felt my thumb crack backwards. For two days, the pain was at the base of my thumb and where my thumb connects to the palm. It was managable but it still hurt. I couldn't move my thumb down all the way too.

However earlier I pushed down on the base with pain and cracked it. After 5 seconds, I could slowly move thumb to my palm and I basicly was pain-free.

What the hell happend here?

I think my thumb is fine enough. Only thing is my base feels "sore" when I try to get my thumb to touch my palm.

Thanks for answering so far.

You popped your thumb back into place. Congratulations! (I do it all the time--I'm a serious klutz).

Sounds like you managed to dislocate and relocate your thumb. Congratulations. Ice, rest, and try really hard not to use it much for a while. NSAIDS like Aleve, Ibuprofen, ect, will also help with both the pain and the swelling. If it really bothers you, you can also wrap it tightly enough to support it, but not so tightly that you compromise your blood flow, and that should help as well.

Sounds like you may have previously dislocated you thumb and may have relocated it.

You should really go see a Doctor. You could have fractured a joint, and the cracking could have been bone debris moving out of the way so you could move it. It could have been dislocated I guess.

DO NOT CRACK IT OR POP IT!!! Get some tape (used for injurys) and rap it up. Rap it around you thumb and palm and refrain from moving it!

ouch, sorry,
