Finger dislocation and continuing sport...help!!!!!!!!!!!?

I dislocated my index finger of my left hand on the 26th while blocking the ball, playing basketball.I didn't go to see the doctor till 2dai (27th) and they bandaged it with crepe bandage. The nurse told me that if it was too tight, or my nail is turning blue or there's a swelling I should loosen the bandage. she also said to keep my hand upright and pointing upwards to reduce swelling. i;ve had dislocated and fractured fingers many times before.
The problem is that, after tomorrow, i have basketball practice and dance practice after that. i was wondering if i would be able to play or if there's anything lighter and more "flexible" that could replace the bandage.

hope you can help

THNX PPL!!!!!!

You should call your doctor or the nurse and ask that question. They expect questions like that.

Ice is good for swelling.

If the swelling has gone down, you can protect the finger by taping it to the one next to it. If the swelling hasn't gone down, you can do damage by using it. By using it, I mean anything that puts any strain on the joint in question.

I got you a link on finger dislocations.

I don't realy know for the bandage, but i once did the same thing but with my thumb, i have an ugly metal thing around it so it wouldn't bend.
well, i think that you should go ask the teachers/trainers for your practices if they are important ones. If they are, then you should ask the school nurse or something is you can still go, my guess is that you can still go to the dance practice, but i don't know about the basketball one.

well if u r left handed its goin to be pretty hard to shoot a basketball, b/c almost all fingers r needed to shoot.
But if ur right handed it shouldn't matter that much, just make sure u find some kind of pad or something that u can tape to ur finger, to help prevent further injury.
Ask ur coach what they think u should do
