Headaches - from jaw dislocation or pregnancy>?

Ok basically 7 - 8 months ago I dislocated my jaw. (dont ask) But i heard it crack and the next day or so it wouldnt shut properly. eventually it did but ever since the right hand side cant shut without sliding to the side....
I can still eat and stuff but its really annoying and I often now move my jaw around gettig it comfortable.. after so long I think I may need surgery (?) but never seen a doc about it yet havent got around to it.

Well I am also 3 months pregnant, and ive started getting headeaches the past few days. Im wanting to know are they from the jaw problem or because im pregnant.
Would the jaw problem get worse all of a sudden or not likely since its been like this for like half a year?

Yeah just any insight, thanks

There is some need to understand the cause of TMJ and why it can be associated with headaches.

When you have undue tension of the muscles of one side of the neck, it applies a torsion to the skull. This in turn induces an over-bite as well as distortion of the jaw joint itself. The dislocation may be a factor but is suggestive the condition was present already and allowed the dislocation to occur with little help.

This torsion also creates an inflammatory process at the base of the skull and will involve some of the cranial nerves. In other words, ripe for headaches.

Would suggest you have this problem taken care of before submitting to surgery. May even prevent it.

A good chiropractor can do wonders in such cases.

sounds like your jaw has developed TMJ and there is a surgery for that and it can cause headaches
but, my guess (which is all i can offer you) is that the headaches are due to your pregnancy

Both of your ideas are good ones. Hormone fluctuations can bring on headaches early in pregnancy. Jaw problems certainly can as well. Tension too. Practice relaxing your body from head to foot, one part at time while breathing in ten counts through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. If it is your jaw, it is likely that ice to the area 15 minutes on should help. See an oral surgeon or dentist regarding the jaw. There may be other ideas than surgery to get it more comfortable and less annoying. Are you eating regularly? Blood sugar fluctuations and blood pressure can also bring on headaches. I would see your doctor if headaches are new to you or worse suddenly. In the meantime, relax and try some ice packs. Hope you feel better soon. Mayoclinic.com has a symptom checker that can help narrow things down and give you talking points for your doctor, as well as suggestions of treatment. Try it. Good luck and congratulations on your new baby.
