Weight lifting after a shoulder dislocation? |
I dislocated my shoulder about 3 months ago playing hockey. Had a sling on for 3 weeks, done physical therapy for 5 weeks. All of the pain is gone. I have no problem playing hockey and other sports. You should totally start lifting again. Not only will it help your shoulder regain strength, but it may help your ligaments to tighten again and prevent another dislocation. Start slow, BUT please play it safe. |

Make sure you consult with your doctor about this. Sometimes they may put him in a brace and let the hip joint scar in, making it tighter. If you do much PT initially you may not give it a chance t... Get a plastic one...then you won't set the metal detectors off. Lighter too. ...I advice you minimum 3 weeks rest. Start any activities slow and increase the rate gradually. ...well it depends on the original grade of dislocation, if you can麓t go to your orthopedist but have your x-rays go to someone else, if not try calling your orthopedist, and ask him about rehab too |
