I'm a disaster... Need help losing weight...?

My sister is getting married in September and I'm her chief bridesmaid. There are 3 bridesmaids in total. We chose the dresses today - all the same - red, fitted, with diamantes at the top and down the side... lovely! Thing is, I think I look like an elephant in it. I'm a size 12 (US size 8) now and used to be a 10. I really want to get back to being a size 10 and to lose about a stone (14 pounds) in time for the first fitting which won't be until the start of July.

Problem is that I have no willpower and once I'm hungry I just have to eat and usually end up eating something fattening... Anyone else out there who has had the same problem and how did you manage to summon up the willpower to eat properly and to exercise (another area where I'm weak)? Anyway, basically, I'm very depressed at the mo for letting my body go like this - even though my sister says the dress looks sexy on me I don't believe her and feel that I'll stand out as the older, uglier bridesmaid at the wedding. Help!

Ok, I know I'm probably not huge - it's just that I'm 31 and the other two girls are 25 and one of them is tiny... I'll really stand out as the bigger one.

Try doing something fun to excercise. I have the Dvd's that you can do in your home. Kickboxing, is really fun. It sounds weird but it burns lots of calories and I enjoy doing it! Also dance dvd's are good too! Just try to make your excercise more fun. If you like music, and have an iPod, just try running around the block while jammin' out to your favorite song or artist

I have the same problem with eating. When i'm eating, i just try to eat slowly, then when I feel full, picture myself as a skinny girl in a bikini!! JK! JK!

Don't worry what your eating in your main three meals, just try not to eat to much of it. Also try to avoid junk food, chips, cookies, etc. (that is my weak point)

My motivation is that I will ulltimitly (sp?) be healthier, and I will get skinnier in the mean time!!

Join a slimming club, they provide all the support you need and it's an incentive knowing you have to face the weigh-in every week.

If you think a size 12 makes you look like an elephant then I think you have a warped self image! I'm sure you look great!

The average woman in the UK is now a size 16. You are hardly fat, and I bet you look fabulous in that dress!

Go to weight watchers and get on the points diet - been doing it for a year - mainly to change to a more healthy and balanced lifestyle - lost 3 stone in a slow and steady way - would have lost more if i had exercised and not gone out as much over xmas - the points mean there are no go areas - you can have what you like - you just pay for it in points - and if you cook from scratch using their receipes, like we do, you really wont go hungry - I can eat for England but even I get full up and am sometimes struggle to eat all my points.

also - i dont have goal - you do - that will help.

good luck :)

1st thing is size 12? ur NOT fat!!!
Eat healthy
Drink 8 glass of water a day
Exercise - stomach crunchs etc

Good luck

You are not big by a long way size 12 is slim! If you want to loose weight don't say you are on a diet just on a healthy eating campaign.Get your self plenty of fresh fruit and veg in and snack on them freely. If you eat low fat meals, small and often you won't get hungry, instead of three meals a day have four or five smaller ones. Then you aren't going so long between meals and you won't crave sugary things as much.Hope this helps and enjoy your sisters wedding.

Try rice cakes between meals and eat plenty of fruit and veg...

Then think of looking great in the wedding photos...

and fast walking every evening for 20 mins...........

All things are possible with a bit of determination...

Good luck

Try this. Have good pasta meal in the morning instead of cereal and toast. For lunch just have an apple and tea. For evening meal 2 bananas and glass of milk. Do this for 3 weeks. You will definitely loose weight. But nothing in between meals. It worked for me. I am sure it do the same for you.
good luck.

Here's a test.....when you shop for food, snacks or main meals, look at the label for nutrition, and choose the food which is under 5g fat and 5g sugar per 100g....that will sort out your intake!

Then try skating, swimming, cycling, walking etc, and DONT snack on anything but fruit, there's loads of good stuff, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, apples.....and try them with natural yogurt.

Finally, tell yourself everytime you think that you can't be bothered to keep this controlled, that you MUST fit into your dress.......and send me thanks in September when you've felt really proud you took my advice ! I've lost 1st in 3 months by doing this and exercising daily at work!

GOOD LUCK! ;-)

Get rid of all the junky food in your house. I'm a size 8 (US) and I NEVER thought that I was big. Chew gum, drink water, and as soon as you wake up do 25 jumping jacks. That will raise your matabolism for the whole day. I'm soory, but I can't give you the will power. Try your best. Join a club or a Yahoo! Group. I wish you the best of luck!

It is a bit complex, so make sure you write this down.
1) Eat less
2) Exercise a lot more
