Carb disaster? |
i want to have spaghetti now for dinner but im afraid that since i won;t be active after i eat it, the carbs will make me gain wieght. is this true? im so afraid of carbs...whats the 411 on them? carbs aren't evil - in fact if you deny your body carbs completely you do damage to your brain. if you are concerned that your activity willl not burn the carbs before you sleep try what i call "low gi spagetti" which basically gives the carbs more time to hand around your system before they turn to fat - and gives you more oppotunity to burn them. "Low gi spaghetti" is easy to make, use half the noodles you normally would and julienne some carrot, zuchini and sweet potato, wait until your pasta has been boiling for about 5 mins and throw them in, they will end up the same texture as your pasta and be better for you! I don't really buy into that fad. If you have like one cup of cooked pasta and on half cup of sauce then that's good. That's what I would eat on my diet and I do weight watchers. processed carbs should be consumed minimally and definetly not with dinner unless you will be exercising later on in the evening. a much healthier dinner would be fish/veggies/salad or poultry/veggies/salad. the vast majority of your carbs should be derived from all natural sources like beans, whole grain rice, lentils, etc. foods that are naturally occuring and consumed in the natural state. man made carbs are not healthy despite what the manufactures of them may claim. you really don't want to put anything in your mouth that can dissolve with minimal or no chewing. |
