Belly button piercing disaster!?

I had my belly button pierced in September of 2006 in a random, spur of the moment idea and today it started to bleed really badly while i was cleaning it. I took it out, stopped the bleeding and put a band-aid on it. I'm guessing it's infected, I'm just wondering how well it will heal now that I've taken it out? Also, should I see a doctor about it's possible infection or just wait it out for a while?

If its infected you will see some pus with the blod. Keep it clean and put antiseptic cream on twice a day, cover it with a dry dressing and tape. If it still does not improve, see a doctor

It should have been healed up by now....go see a doctor.

Your piercing is toast. You have to let yourself heal and that's probably going to mean your piercing is going to close up. If you don't have peroxide, rubbing alcohol, and antibiotic cream at your house along with several band-aids or gauze pads, get them immediately. You can try to wait it out for a few days but if you see signs that it's getting worse of the infection is spreading (like your entire lower abdomen is pink or discolored in any way), seek medical attention immediately. It may mean that you'll need a prescription-strength antibiotic to fight it off.

A doctor would prescribe an antibiotic type lotion or cream or something. I would pour hydrogen peroxide in there daily until the infection was gone. Maybe a day or two. Depends how squeamish you are. You will pay a bit more for the doctor's appointment than you will for a bottle of HP.
