ADD and learning disabilities?

If one parent has ADD or learning disabilities, is it possible for all/some of their children to have the same condition? And if both parents have the conditions, is it possible for all/some of the children to have the conditions too? What are the chances?

help,

I'm not sure you'll find many articles out there that addresses ADD and/or learning disabilities as an inherited condition. I've never seen any, so I can't begin to answer what the chances are for a child born to one or both parents who have suffered the same.

I would say that all one can do is to pay close attention to the child's development, and to take quick action if any developmental problems present itself. I know this isn't much help...best of luck.

no matter what the hope for the best is vitaly important. Please consult a doctor. If get down to earth and take into consideration all the risks i would preffer adoption. There are so many young lifes that need so much more than some parents breeding.

I know that in my family the women especially tend toward a specific kind of Dyslexia that makes us bad spellers and not so great at math. Most of the studies I have read say that like hair color some learning disabilities can be passed on but nothing is 100%. Because even if an individual carries the gene it can be expressed to different degrees...With tutoring and hard work many LDs can be over come. On the good side people with LDs tend to have higher IQs.
