Learning Disabilities!?

Ok I did not know where to put this question but here's my question. When someone states he had 3 learning disabilities as a child or in younger years, what might those be. I am just wondering if this is why he acts the way he does in adult life. He is quite intellegent but when it comes to personal relations with me, he seems to not have a clue about women, dating, rights and wrongs etc.

They were probably along the lines of ADD.
I have a similar friend who did very poorly in school growing because his parents had "issues". Until he was put in a foster home, but because of his badparents he was slower to emotionally develop.

He will compulsively do and say things sometimes and think little of the resulting consequences.
I think if you want to put the time in he will eventually become secure enough with himself to emotionally connect with you.
But if you cant put up with it you cant put up with it.

it was probably a type of autism, not like dyslexia or anything but a social problem. on true life it interviewed a person that had that autism. i cant remember what its called though

LD (Learning Disabilities) can range from dyslexia, to reading problems to speech. Even though he's an adult, you might ask him if you can see some of his old IEP's (Individualized Education Plan) from his school days. The school develop these plans, they articulate what the barriers are for learning and what the school will do to assist the student in learning.

Another possiblity could be Asperger's Syndrome, a type of autism. Folks with AS are highly intelligent, very rigid in their views, have poor interpersonal skills and tend to specialize in one area of interest.

Folks with AS tend to miss social cues a lot. They don't pick up on hints because they are drawn inward, they tend not to notice what others are doing so they feel and look awkward, especially in new situations.

Too much stimuli can be very upsetting to them. (often their hearing is much better so they hear things others can't and are more sensitive to sounds and noises.)

As one client with AS told me, having AS means that I know I can't make friends and I don't know how to fit in, but I REALLY want to.
