Does diphtheria is still around us today? |
i think so but i'm not sure In post-industrial areas like Europe, the US, Canada, etc, kids routinely get vaccinated for it at a very young age, and it has therefore almost completely disappeared in these areas. It's the 'D' in a DPT shot (the P is 'pertusis' and the 'T' is tetanus, both of which are likewise uncommon in post-industrial areas; uncommon but not nonexistent!). More common in third world countries where vaccinations are not available. It is.
