Diphtheria, Tetanus,Poliomvelitis Injection !?

Im 15 and Im getting my jags at school in about a week and im sooo scared ! I have a very bad phobia of needles and when I see a needle I usually pass out , throw up or cry (I know im an idiot) !

What can I do so that I dont cry because I really dont want to look like an idiot ?

And also how can I keep from passing out ?

Im soooooo scared im DREADING it ! Everyone says if you relax your arm its less sore but I just cant relax I always breath dead heavy and shake like hell !!!

Help what can I do ?

Take a deep breth and try to keep your arm as relaxed as you can. Don't look at the needle. Bite your bottom lip with your top teeth and nip your leg really hard when you're sitting down - it makes you think about the needle less. Concentrate on 1 point in the room. Also drink lots of water as this makes your viens easier to get at. At least you are allowedto get your so you can't get the diseases - I can't!

Just remember it will only hurt for a few minutes.

Keep moving your arm afterwards so as it doesn't stiffen up!

Good luck! :-)

If you tend to pass out while getting an injection, you should lay on a table if possible during the injection. Take deep breaths and try to relax your arm as much as possible. Make small talk with the nurse giving the injection to help take your mind off everything. If you have an IPOD or something take that and listen to music to help calm you. Close your eyes and it will be over in a few seconds.
