Diphtheria??

I need to know where it comes from, what it is, and so on. If you could help me find a site that covers all i need to know that would be great.

Diphtheria is an acute pharyngeal or cutaneous infection by Corynebacterium diphtheriae, some strains of which produce an exotoxin. Symptoms are either nonspecific skin infections or pseudomembranous pharyngitis followed by myocardial and neural tissue damage secondary to the exotoxin. Diagnosis is clinical and confirmed by culture. Treatment is with antitoxin and penicillin or erythromycin. Childhood vaccination should be routine.
Please see the web pages for more details on Diphtheria and Diphtheria immunization (vaccine)
