Does anyone here have digestive system problems/disorders? Anyone had a capsule endoscopy,Severe constipation? |
I guess I'm just looking for support and comfort...I'm kind of in the middle of this nightmare-ish situation right now and I want to know if anyone else here has been through this before...so basically for a year now i've been reaaaally sick...my digestive system just really doesn't work (SEVERE constipation). I was 135 pounds and now im 93 pounds...i'm currently going through all of this testing to see why my digestive system won't work (and why i've developed all these food sensitivities) and basically all they've found is Crohn's disease in my blood work but NOT in the colonoscopy (so they can't diagnose or treat me for that) and a blockage in my stomach that they call "SMA". But they can't find what's wrong with my intestines. I've had a barium X ray, Colonoscopy, endoscopy, ultra sound...and tomorrow I'm doing a capsule endoscopy. I have had severe digestive issues for several years now, and after many tests and probing this and that they still don't really know what's wrong with me. My sister has Crohn's disease. She gets bound up, has lots of pile-ups, pain and discomfort. She always had terrible stomach pains throughout her whole life but we didn't know why. Crohns disease is inflamation of the colon. Sometimes the passage ways through the colon are so small waste cannot get through properly. I'm not sure of many other diseases which cause this, but talk to your doctor about it. It took the idoits a long time to figure out what my sister had. Keep up the fight. It took me 6 years for a diagnosis. During that time, I went through 3 GP's and 3 specialists. Unfortunately, it takes about 2 years and a visit to at least 2 specialists in order to come up with a diagnosis. I have severe constipation because of previous surgeries causing adhesion's on my colon, don't know much about Crohns disease but I do know the doctor told me to stay on a low residue diet an I also take Glycolax every night ,The only permanent way to solve what I have is resection of my colon ,take the part with the adhesion's out but the only problem with this is that causes for another surgery which years from now I will have more scar tissue building up,so I'm try to not go there yet . You know it seems to me if blood work showed crohns disease then it wouldn't matter if the scopes showed anything because sometimes that is just in the eye of the doctor looking in but blood work is acurate most of the time. I have had intestinal issues and stomach issues since I was a baby. To give you perspective, I am 50 now so it's been a long time. I have a hiatal hernia in my stomach, which means that part of my stomach has pushed through my diaphragm wall just below my lungs. I have to eat s l o w l y and chew my food carefully or else I will get sick. Sometimes I have a hard time swallowing., and if I eat too fast, I feel like barfing. I am prone to gastritis, too. My son has similar problems. While you will likely always battle them, here are the things that have helped him.1) drink water--lots of it --lay off the caffiene and tea (even the decaff versions) 2) eat yogurt with active cultures everyday--this helps regulate the digestive tract--if you cannot tolerate the lactose, ask for a RX of the active cultures. 3)take good care of your urinary system 4) find out what makes your symptoms worse and avoid them. Hi, I was sick for over 4 yrs before a doc knew what was wrong with me. It was also all about the digestive system. I was so nauseated everyday and night, that I also lost weight. I also had food sensetivities and allergys and smells, like perfumes and cig smoke. I also live with pain all over. add fiber to your diet. and exercise. |
