How do i get my story told? |
I have a digestive disease that has paralyzed my stomach. It's called gastroparesis.many of us that has this disease can not eat. we survive on feeding tubes.many of us have not eaten solid food in years.we can not digest it.This disease effect your intestines too.some of us have to get our stomach removed because it does not work anymore.Medication does not help we can not digest it or absorb it.There are people literally starving to death because of this disease.I really need help getting my story told.I have e-mailed every talk show and newspaper nobody seems to care.so PLEASE HELP ME I wonder if you are really looking for pity because they story of gastroparesis is not new. There are many causes of gastroparesis, the most common being diabetes. Obesity is a leading cause of diabetes. You would be better off treating your diabetes rather than getting in touch with a newspaper reporter if that is the reason for your disease. Although there is no cure, there are medications which are helpful. Surgery is only rarely done as a last resort, and would be a bypass, not a removal. There is new research involving a pacemaker device which sends electrical impulses to aid gastric emptying, so don't give up hope. If you want to tell and retell how awful it is, you can certainly do that, and there are many who would like to hear about it. They will also like to tell you their stories of how awful their disease is and their uncle's and this story they saw on TV. I'm sure you could even start a yahoo group about it, and have lots of people sharing stories of their incurable illnesses, and how horrible it is. Go to your local newspaper office and tell them about it. Ask your doctor if there are any support groups for it. People in those groups like to hear and tell the illness stories. You could call into talk shows, even if they aren't on the topic of horrible illnesses, and tell your story there. You could write a pamphlet and distribute it by email and on the street. |
