Oral lichen planus?

My dad has lichen planus in the mouth and on his skin as well. He has gone to go see a specialist who diagnosed him with it about 2 months ago. His next appointment isn't until the end of November since the doctor is so busy, so meanwhile it seems to be getting worse especially in his mouth. I know it makes him uncomfortable, embarrassed, and I can tell it bothers him so much. He wants to avoid the steroids as much as possible. Right now he's using some toothpaste and mouthwash from the biotene brand, he uses some aloe vera products, and takes vitamin A. Another thing is that I know it's an autoimmune disease stemming from stress, which describes my dad to the tee, but sadly that's how he's always been and I don't think that will change since it's in his nature to feel that way no matter what anyone says. I also heard that lichen planus can come from digestive problems to which my dad also has. Is there something out there to help him, because I can tell it's secretly breaking him down

I think to get it under control, he'll need to do the steroids (topical only...not systemic). Most of the time, LP is not a big deal, but it sounds like your dad may have erosive LP (ELP), which can be a precursor to cancer. Some people swear by CoQ10 treatment, some by High colonics. I can't comment on the efficacy of those therapies.
