Dieting................?

Hello and happy new year, quick question, are Slim Fast products i.e shakes and chocolate bars really safe to have in a diet?

would like to lose 2-3 dress sizes or 4 stone.

You can lose weight on the Slim Fast products. You wish to lose a substantial amount of weight, which will take time. After a while you will find the Slim Fast products very boring. You could eat a healthy low fat diet and exercise to help accellerated the weight loss.

11 months ago I lost 48lbs. Just over over 3stone 6lbs. I dropped 4 dress sizes too. It took me just over 5 months. I did not use Slim Fast, or any other diet package. I came the conclusion that diets only work whilst you are on them, but as soon as you stop all the weight, plus more goes back on again.

So I decided to change my eating habits and lifestyle for good.

I ate mostly:

Lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, fresh fruit, vegetables, potatoes, pasta, brown rice, whole grains, beans & pulses, skimmed milk, low fat dairy products, non sugary cereals, tea, coffee and sugar free beverages, Healthy oils (olive, sunflower, safflower, flaxseed, and rapeseed.

Snack on fresh fruit only, drink plenty of water, cut your portion sizes down if you can, and stop eating when you feel full. Move as much as you can. This will help acellerate the weight loss.

I only ate in MODERATION ONLY: (and still do)

Take away meals, ready made meals you buy in the supermarket, processed meats, biscuits, cakes, sweets, chocolate, sugared fizzy drinks, alcohol. All of these are high in saturated fat, sugar and salt. These pile on those unwanted pounds.

I also joined a gym. Exercise is really important. I know that this acellerated my weight loss and now helps to maintain it.
I attended 5/6 times a week for 1 hour at time and still do. I walk whenever I can, go swimming and cycle. The more you move the better.

This was 11 months ago and I have been able to maintain my weight with ease and will be able to, as long as I eat healthy and exercise regularly.

I wish you lots of good luck in your quest to lose weight. Happy New Year.

well they are not good for you.. a healthy eating plan is better than dieting and those fast starvation diets will only make you even more overweight in the long run.. dont do it.. be sensible and eat 3 healthy meals per day..

i think they are because they are balanced and have vitamins etc included in them good luck

Read my post & others from yesterdays Q on Slim fast.

You would be a lot better off just adopting a healthy eating plan. Cheaper too!

I would not go for slim fast products, simply because they are overpriced. And there are many other low calorie food options you can have.

I would suggest, have 3 small and healthy meals per day, and if this is to less for you, a fruit inbetween.
DO NOT skip the breakfast, have something like musli or porrige for breakfast, it will keep you feel full for a long while.

Drink ONLY water. Don't go for juices etc. As they have calories as well, BUT do not make you feel full.

I want to get rid of a few pounds as well!!! :-)

yes, they are an ideal prop if you're trying to follow a calorie-controlled diet.
just ensure you eat no more than 2,000 calories ( an adult womans' allowance ) a day, increase your water/fruit/raw veg intake & find a sport/exercise you like.
good luck to you, remember you can do this if you want it badly enough & YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT.
you can't go wrong.
;-)

yes they are ok as long as they are used short term and in accordance with the instructions ie u have 2 meal replacements a day 2 snacks and a healthy balanced meal, they should not be your sole nutrition source. i have used them in the past and found they worked as with the meals planned i didnt think about food or over eat. as with any diet exercise will help too . good luck in yr quest.

PROBABLY I WOULD CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR FIRST TO MAKE SURE SLIM FAST IS THE BEST WAY TO GO IN DIETING
