How can diet with exercise NOT cause someone to lose more weight than dieting alone? |
Has anyone read this Yahoo article? The weight reduction in the experiment was based on BMI. Both groups reported a 10% loss of fat, not necessarily weight. i was a bit surprised by some of the comments in the article, so i decided to check out the real thing and see what it was about. weight loss was the same because in both groups, the amount of calories in v. calories out was the same. they just went about accomplishing it in different ways. group A reduced their calorie intake through diet alone (let's just say they cut it down 500 calories for this example). group B reduced their calorie intake by diet (minus 250), and then exercised long enough to burn 250. so in the end, both groups are at minus 500 calories per day, and gradually, the participants lost weight. Because with exercise, your building muscle...muscles weigh more than fat I do not agree with that research. The diet and exercise group should lose more weight As Dan Majerle would say, "ERRONEOUS!" thats a tough one....but both groups would lose weight either way...only at diffrent rates i would think..... What you aren't getting is your body is not a machine. It's a living organism with a great deal of control over these processes. With diet alone, you will lose fat. With diet + exercise you will not only lose fat but will also build up muscles. Muscles weigh more. |

I don't know if you have the funds to do this...but really try to save your money and pay for a personal trainer. Even if its just a couple times a month--Somebody to tell you exactly what to ... DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF! It is OK to eat. If you cut down your food intake to much then your body will convert it into fat since it does not know when its next meal will be.
