Could someone help me with a biology/diet question?

**I'd just like to start off by saying that yes, this is a homework question. So if you don't want to help me, you might not want to read on. And please do leave any nasty comments telling me to do my own homework.

Suppose you embark on a body-building program. You already eat plenty of carbohydrated, but a nutritionist advises a protein-rich diet that includes protein supplements. Speculate on how the extra dietary proteins will be put to use, and in which tissues.

carbohydrates burn off fast but proteins are the last source of food the body will use, therefore if you are working hard you will have the energy to keep up and you will not starve your body from food
Also every single cell in our body is made up of proteins so that goes to tissues also so to develop muscles you need proteins

hope this was helpful

I'd guess the proteins would be used to build new muscles.

when you exercise, you destroy the muscle--to be rebuilt the muscle needs protein (amino acids). the more amino acids the more the muscle growth. only the skeletal (muscle) and tendon tissues are affected.

A dietitian would tell you that you most likely get enough protein in your normal diet, and that any excess provided via supplements would be filtered out and excreted by your kidneys.
