What is the difference between sugar and dietary fiber? Which is better for you and why? -Thanks

is this a real question? they arent remotely even close to each other, sugar is just sugar, not good at all if you are on a diet, fiber will fill you up without giving you a bunch of calories,
i cant think of any way sugar is good for you, except it tastes good, fiber is of course good for you

sugar is just empty calories while fiber is what fills you up. fiber is better for you because it helps keep you full and it helps your body regularly dispose of waste.

They're both carbohydrates, but that's about all they have in common. Sugar is, well, it's sugar. Your body converts it quickly for energy, and uses what it can, and stores the rest. It's pretty much empty calories.

Dietary fiber is it's opposite. It doesn't have any real calories, because it's not digested. But, it does keep you feeling full for a long time, and it contributes to the health of your digestive system, because it basically passes through and takes out some bad stuff with it, a lot like a broom. As a plus, the digestible carbs in high fiber foods tend to be more complex, which means they give you a longer boost of energy, without a sugar crash.

So, fiber is really good stuff, but sugar should be eaten in moderation, because it's not all that healthy.

Sugar is, in its simplest form, a type of carbohydrate. It is composed of a very simple molecule chain. Fiber molecule chains are complex, are also carbohydrates, and are indigestible.

While sugars provide energy, without fiber they are unhealthy. Not only does fiber slow the absorption of sugars, it also helps you have regular bowels, keeps you fuller longer, seems to have something to do with preventing colon cancer, and also can improve your chances of not getting heart disease!

Because fiber is indigestible, the calories contained within them are not absorbed.
