Diarrhea Question- What is the Functionality/Pathology of this mess?

Diarrhea Question- I heard people state they got diarrhea minutes of not within an hour of something they ate. HOW DOES THAT WORK? Does the food that caused them diarrhea bypass all the other waste is their small and large intestines at the time of bowel movement? And does the body lose all the nutrients, mineral and vitamins from the food that caused them the diarrhea?

You get diarrhea for the same reason you vomit: something entered your body that wasn't good for you, and your body will get rid of it before it has a chance to poison you.

The food wouldn't bypass the other food, the bowels would go into 'overdrive' and expel everything.

Yes, the body wouldn't have enough time to absorb everything: which is the point. A bit of it might be absorbed - which would explain why you feel generally 'sick' when these things happen, but not enough to seriously harm you.

I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome which means that some foods upset my stomach causing diarrhea, cramps, pain and wind and there is no known reason for it. Ive had all the tests and Im not intolerant of everything. The expert opinion is 'dont eat the foods that upset you'. With me, if I eat something that is bad (usually really fatty or deep fried food, or onions, or garlic) I get stomach spasms within an hour and then I have to go to the toilet. My doctor explained that whatever causes it is making the stomach 'dump' (his word) the contents straight into the bowel without digesting much of it. It then causes spasms of the intestine which ripple down forcing whatever is at the end out. I swear I can totally empty my digestive system if I eat the wrong thing. I dont believe I get any nutritional value out of the food which causes the problem because almost all of the nutrients are absorbed through the stomach lining and the food isn't in there for very long. Once the attack has passed I usually have to eat another (bland) meal to replace the blood sugar lost from emptying my guts. I have been the same weight for 20 years so the IBS may be a contributing factor. If you dont have IBS I envy you!
