Diarrhea Question...?

Alright, so I've had Diarrhea issues for a real long time, and I don't mean days, I mean freaking years. I've seen my doctor, but he said it was nothing horrible and to just let it pass. Is there something I should do? Or should i just take Diarrhea medicine everyday...? Any advice would be a huge help,

A change in your diet may help. Believe it or not, increasing your fiber intake may reduce your symptoms.

You should go see a nutrionist and change your diet!

drank alot of apple juice

Lactose intolerant? I had this problem and it sucked and I talked to the doctor and they said to reduce my dairy intake and thank god, it worked.

That is irritable bowel syndrome it sounds like.. I had a family member with that problem, and I'm sorry to say, they have to take medicine every day. Medical science doesn't really have an answer for that one. There may be alternative ways to go about it on the internet that I haven't heard of.

need an expert

Cheese, bananas, iron.. lots of food out there to help plug u up.

You might want to get checked for Ulcerative Colitis or even Crohn's disease.

ha ha!!!

Three things....

Change doctors

Change your diet to include less carbs, more proteins

Replace your fluids and electrolytes with pedialyte as the main medical complication from diarrhea is dehydration.

buy more paper, and medicine and more paper

My mother is the same way but it's just something you have to live with. But, she also takes some anti-diarreah medication that works well.

There are certain common foods that people are mildly allergic to. Try taking foods out of your diet for a couple of days, on and off and see if there is any improvement

*Corn
*Bread
*Dairy
*Seafood
*Strawberries

Your body needs adequate levels of salts and electrolytes 鈥?minerals such as sodium and potassium 鈥?in order to maintain the electric currents that keep your heart beating. Disruption of your body's fluid and mineral levels creates an electrolyte imbalance. Unless restored by replacing fluids and drinking an electrolyte mixture, this imbalance can be serious.

If your doctor determines that an antibiotic medication caused your diarrhea, you'll need to stop taking that medication and modify your treatment plan.

If a parasitic infection caused your diarrhea, prescription antibiotics may ease your symptoms. Antibiotics sometimes, but not always, help ease signs and symptoms of bacterial diarrhea. However, antibiotics won't help viral diarrhea.
If you have chronic diarrhea, treating the underlying disease may help ease your diarrhea.

Drink plenty of clear liquids , including water, clear sodas and broths, gelatin, and juices every day. But, avoid apple and pear juices until you feel better because they can make your diarrhea worse. Avoid caffeine and alcohol.
Add semisolid and low-fiber foods gradually as your bowel movements return to normal. Try soda crackers, toast, eggs, rice or chicken.
Avoid certain foods such as dairy products, fatty foods, high-fiber foods or highly seasoned foods for a few days

You might want to see a specialist (gastroentrologist) and get tested for possible other diseases. They might have to scope you to check your colon. It might just be irratible colon and there isn't much they can do to help.
Keep a journal of the food you eat as well to see if anything may be triggering the attacks.
Try to reduce stress and keep hydrated.

If you need a referall from your primary doctor, ask for a referral to a specialist; a gastroenterologist. Your doctor obvouisly doesn't know enough about this topic!! You can try just calling his nurse for the referral.
If you don't have the insurance to need the referral, get to a gastro ASAP. Don't take Diarrhea medicine everyday. You have to get to the root of this problem.

If it was fro years, this is not healthy at all. You should replenesh all of the water you lost to diarrhea, and you should get tons of more fiber in your diet, to stop the diarrhea. No not take the medicine everyday, because it will drain you of all your protein.

You might be lactose intolerant. You can try to stop drinking milk and eating milk products and see what happens. If that doesn't work, I would suggest seeing a gastroenterologist. I was embarassed to go see one. I don't know if you might be feeling that way too. I was ashamed of it. But, I went because I was tired of living with it. The doctor said I have ulcerative colitis. They put me on meds. I've been on it for several months now. So far, things are so much better. Hopefully, that's it and it will be okay from now on. I would highly recommend going to see a gastroenterologist because it will improve your quality of life. I finally have a feeling of what it is like to live like a normal human.
