My 1 year old has a diaper rash, what to do? |
My one year old has developed a diaper rash that has now lasted for almost 2 weeks and it has not gotten any better we have tried using balmex, desiten, and hydrocortizone cream, but so far nothing has worked. I am worried about him because he is in so much pain, I am also worried because his rash seems to have started spreading down the top part of his legs, is this something to be concerned with or is this something that normally happens. A&D ointment is really good. But since it's been so long you might want to take a trip to the pediatrician, just to safe. Good luck! We always had good results with plain old petroleum jelly and keeping the diaper changed.... hi i know this sounds weird but apply the white of an egg too the sore area it acts as a barrier and tigtens up the skin very effective Check and make sure he is dry hourly day and night. Also either use petroleum jelly (plain) or Desinex and every time you change him put a good coat of this on him after making sure to wash him with a warm mild soapy wash cloth. Don't use the wipes. he may be allergic to them. You might want to take him to the doctors just to get it checked out maybe he is having a reaction of some sort. Just to be safe.. Also maybe just taking his diaper off for about 1hr or so... just allowing it to air out and try to let the rash go down... Hope this helps... But 2 weeks sounds like a long time.. If it last any longer I would take his red butt to the doctors. You can try a gentler product. Arbonne's ABC Baby Care line is ALL natural, botanical, no animal by-products and well tested. He could be allergic to the harsh chemicals in the other products you are trying. Theres this Diaper rash cream called "butt paste".. it works really good. It should clear it up by the next day. |
