What do I use for a baby who has ezcema and a diaper rash? |
I have a 17 month old who has very bad ezcema. A few days ago she developed a little diaper rash, so I used balmex. Now it irritated her ezcema and she has a god awful rash. Is there any diaper creams that I can use that are safe for her ezcema?? I have changed all of the cleaners, soaps, lotion, sunblock and dtergents(no fabric softner of course) and my doctor says that she disapproves of using steriod creams on a child my daughters age. I also found out that babies with ezcema(as well as adults) can become allergic to items that have worked in the past. My child does have irritability to zinc and zinc oxide witch is contained in most diaper creams. She also, amazingly enough, is sensitive to aquaphor and similar jellies. I don't know what else I can use. Any other sugesstions? i am a mother of two children with severe eczema and allergies.trust me when i say this MAKE THEM GIVE HER ALLERGY TEST IF YOUR PEDI. DOES NOT GO TO ANOTHER.once they found out what my daughter(she is four now)was allergic to it was so much easier to deal with.e-mail me any time u want to discuss this.I know how hard it is just strong and it will get better.I would try just regular vaseline it is all natural Penaten cream (zinc) The zinc ointment is always good!!! Try it. My first son had a HORRIBLE diaper rash. It would peel and bleed!!! Sudocrem or Metanium cream for the diaper rash. I would re-apply the cream after every nappy change so there is a barrier to protect the skin all the time. If it is not improving, I would see the doctors about it. According to "The Yeast Syndrome" by John Parks Trowbridge, both ezcema and diaper rash are results of a yeast (candida albicans) infestation. I am just 15 so of no help. But my mother didn't use disposable plastic diapers on me ever. We still have smooth butts. She used napkins/ nude cotton cloths and tied it up loosely wioth pins. It means extra washing but it's cooling and fresh(make sure not crisp and starchy)Also don't apply any moisturizer or baby powder to that. The former could exacerbate the eczema and the powder dry ur skin.Try holding wet ice. Happy Baby Loving(It's part of the roller-coaster when parents turn dermatalogist, if ur lucky it'd be ur last time:I know of parents who take their adolescents for scar treatment, forget about pock marks and acne)! calamine lotions and other over the counter.baby nappy rash cream,it helps a lot.and make sure that u change and wash ur baby regularly.with a clean water spray or ,or a ran tape.every time they soil their diapers use cetaphil cleansers to cleanse da area first..then moisturise with drapolene cream.any hydrocortisone 1% cream and aqueous cream should werk. be sure to pat dry after cleansing. |
