Tips for a really bad diaper rash?! Please!?

My 11 month daughter has had diarrhea due to a stomach bug, so she has got such a sore are raw bottom
ive been letting her go without a diaper for bits at a time, putting a&d ointment and powder on it and also a warm rag when i change her diaper.
nothing is helping.
anything else i can do? she keeps waking up crying cause it hurts so bad.
thanks

Triple paste is the best for diaper rashes....You can get it at any pharmacy. It is expensive but worth it.... Use warm water to clean the area then pat and air dry. Apply a thick coat of the triple paste.... it acts as a barrier and helps to heal as well...
Good luck!

try balmex i think it works the best you might be able to get a perscription if that doesnt help!!!

I'd say the best thing to do is to go to a Doctor or somthing like that!!!

Wash her, pat her dry and apply cornstarch right out of the box when she is dry. If that does not work call the Dr for a script.

have you tried cornstarch powder?its supposed to dry up the skin,or try desitin cream.

put a tablespoon of vinegar in a gallon of water, warm it just to skin temperature and let her sit in it, the solution will ease her itching and burning a great deal.

You can put corn starch on the rash, it works because I've used it before. The corn starch will cool the skin and dry up the rash. I hope this helps.

The best is Vaseline!

Its best for preventing and soothing diaper rashes.
Don't put lotion on her bum though it will just cause her more pain.
If the Vaseline trick didn't work then go to a drugstore and ask the people who work there whats best for diaper rash healing and stuff

There are a couple of things that could be going on.

Because urine is alkaline (it's a base) it creates a GREAT environment for fungus -- not like . . . baby butt mushrooms -- but, like -- a baby butt yeast infection. Using a desenex or balmex specially formulated for fungal infections could help. If not -- you could always try the creams used for treating jock itch or athletes foot (if it's a fungal infection -- it's the same thing that causes jock itch).

You could also let her go bare-butt for a bit after you take off her diaper and clean her. One reason diaper rash happens isn't because the parent's aren't cleaning the baby like they should be, but because the baby's butt doesn't have the time to dry before the new diaper goes on -- which means you have all of that warm moist water trapped in the dark diaper -- warm, moist, and dark . . . breed fungus.

You could also try using Gold Bond Anti-fungal powder in the diaper -- after you give baby butt some time to dry.

I would stay away from the powder , the A & D is perfect after her bath ,some fresh air ,then the a and d . If you have any cloth diapers she could be in for a time during the day ,that might help too . Good luck ! Is she drinking pedialyte ? or gatorade ? That will help replace the liquids.

My son had really red and raw tush when he had too had diarrhea. We used A&D first, then also put on Triple Paste over it. I found Triple Paste at Wal-Mart. It is expensive in comparison to the others, but it worked well for us. It seemed to reduce the pain instantly, and reduced redness over each day. Cleared up in three days. We now put A&D on at every change and haven't had a reaccurence. Hope this helps. Dave

Poor baby, I'm sure she is hurting and burning badly.....
The Dr. told me to stop using disposable diapers and use cloth ones....but to double rinse the diapers as soap can cause problems too.....clean the urine off by putting baby in a tub of water and baby soap in it....then rinse well.....keep Destine on baby all the time. But the main thing is change baby very very often

Warm bath, gently pat her bottom dry and put baby oil on her bottom this will dry any extra water that you are not able to get to keep from making her bottom more raw or breaking the skin.(baby oil dries water from your body and gives you moisture that you need to keep from your skin from drying out). Then try using real light pressure and put balmex on her bottom over the baby oil. Try to mostly use just the baby oil on her during the day as much as possible. And let her get as much air as possible. You will see a big difference the very next morning. At each diaper change after lightly washing with warm water reapply the baby oil and put on a fresh diaper. And use the balmex with the baby oil at bedtimes, wheather its nap time or at night. My cousin's little girl used to get bad diaper rash and that was the only thing that helped her and her bottom looked and felt so much better after after just one night. After the rash clears up try using balmex at bedtime every night that will help her to keep from getting anymore rashes. Balmex works miracles my mother-in-law used it for almost everything, it is real good stuff. If she has any yeast infection with the diaper rash like my little girl used to get then you would want to use hydrocortizone 1% cream for itching and you would need to get an anti-fungal cream from her pediatrician to go with it to rid her of it.Good luck, best wishes.
