How to treat diaper rash? Fresh air and a quality medicated powder. baby powder zinc oxide or rash cream on a clean butt works well budreax's butt paste works the best. Air the skin whenever possible. Barrier creams work well, ie. Penaten or Zincofax, but I found a cream in a health food store designed for diaper rashes and it has Calendula in it. It was a bit more expensive but it worked great. If the rash becomes very red and tender, bring baby to the doctor, sometimes they need a little more than what can be bought over the counter. the best one is Aquaphor for severe rash! The best thing I know of is bag balm from a vet. zinc and castor oil cream it works the best and is not as expensive as some of the others and works just as good if not better then they do Best thing for diaper rash is to soak that little bottom in a bath with baking soda. Dry gently, apply a good coating of A&D Ointment. Prevention is key....diaper rash forms because bacteria from bowel movements is left on the skin even after you think you have cleaned very well. Some of those wipes are not even damp enough to clean. Using A&D Ointment puts a barrier between baby's skin and stool/urine. put some maalox on it. it dries it out so it goes away. Put it in a squirt bottle. |
