Dialysis help!?

My mother has had bad kidneys all her life, she will be put on Dialysis after xmas. Im really worried. how long do people live on Dialysis?
Is it dangerous?
Is this the beginning of the end for her?
Im so worried I carnt put it in to words
help!

thank you for all your help.
It is not curable.
when people say 'you can be on Dialysis for years' what does that mean? how many years? Is there a strong possiblity she might die after two years then? Or will she live on to old age like a regular person? what are the statistics please?
If I'm a match and gave her my kidney, will this mean she will have a high proablity to live on for years and years, in to old age like a regular person?
Will it reduce my life span dramatically? (Im willing to do it no matter what)
What is the percentage that the operation (transplante) could go wrong and she (and i) colud die??
I know all this is sunbjective but generally speaking.
(I know there is more than one question there but please please help)

its not the beginning of the end, many live on dialysis so in mean time u can start arranging for her a kidney transplant ,its hard times but be strong ,,best wishes

People live on dialysis for years.
If the condition is curable, her kidneys will hopefully start functioning again. If not, kidney transplant is also an option.
Good luck for your Mom.
