Diabetic..?

if your gluecose is over 600 .. should we go to the ER..

what could be happening..?

Im an EMT....Listen to me, Call an ambulence now. the patient will soon go into diabetic ketoacidosis. you should go to the er over 350. this high can tear apart your internal structure and im not going to lie if treatment is not given the patient will die. if you have any other questions e-mail me il be happy to talk you through if the patient gets bad till EMS get there av611@comcast.net

Okay so if you ARE a diabetic give yourself about 10 units of insulin and drink lots of water...no need to go to the ER. However, if you ARE NOT a diabetic you need to get yourself to a doctor ASAP..congrads your diabetic Report It

Hi! You should have gotten to the ER yesterday. That is a dangerous high sugar. ER NOW!!!
I am diabetic and know this for a fact. I have been on for going on 48 yrs.

im not for sure...but go to er anyways.

There is no flat answer. If the person is a Type 1 on insulin and is fully functional(eg not unconscious), they should take insulin based on their doctors guidance(if they don't know they should immediately contact their doctor or go to the er)

If they are a Type 2 and are on insulin they should again take the amount their doctor recommends.

If they are a type 2 and are not taking insulin they should immediately contact their doctor or go to the er.

On your next visit to your doctor you should find out what actions to take with a variety of readings. You are going to have unexplained highs (and lows if on insulin) and you should be prepared to handle all of them. Any one who lives with a diabetic should also recognize and be prepared to deal with situations that arise.

I assume you are already on medication. Call your doctor. If you are on insulin, you can do the injection yourself. This is the quickest way to bring the glucose level down. Believe me, ER is not always the best solution. You can wait for hours before you see a doctor.
