Just a question (Diabetic people only)? |
Hi, i'm a diabetic. I'm not here to ask you about what i can and can't eat. I'm here to ask you for your opinion. Does it bother you to see non-diabetics ask about a diabetic diet, just because they want to lose weight. To me that seems like abusing something that shouldn't be tampered with. Diabetes is a real problem, so why are non-diabetics trying to copy our "sometimes" hard lifestyle. I would just like to know your opinion on this subject. Thanks alot It does not bother me at all. Actually, it is a good thing. Even though it might bother us to give the advice to someone who is not diabetic, at least they are interested in staying healthy. It is known that diabetics have to follow a strict diet that is hard to stay on. With people knowing that, they want to know what we are able to eat. It also does something better. It also communicates to other people what we are going with us and our disease. I have found so many people that do not have a clue about or are just plain dumb about the disease. By these people asking us questions, we are able to spread the word about our disease and how hard it is to fight it. You never know, we might tell the right person and they may be the person to find a cure, not just a treatment. it is not clear to me My Mom is a Diabetic so I know what you mean but I agree with you entirely. No it doesn't bother me as it's not what we eat necessarily but the exercise that is necessary along with meds & diet! It doesnt bother me. Id be happy to tell them what they want to know but no matter what I eat even on the diabetic diet,I cant lose weight. No, it doesn't bother me at all. I try to spread the good news about my diet (I am diabetic, type 2) to anyone who will listen. I've lost over 30 lbs and am just beginning to settle into my proper weight. Our society consumes way too much sugar and sugary foods, especially sodas. That's why there are so many over weight people and so much diabetes. And to me, it's not abuse if someone wants to copy my diet to lose weight. I'm just happy that my misfortune may help someone else. And I'm not wanting for anything. There are all kinds of good healthy alternatives to sugar. Even chocolate. Please be kind. Share your knowledge with others. You might save someone from becoming diabetic. God bless. No, it really doesn't bother me at all. When I first learned I had Type 2 I controlled it very well with diet and exercise and I lost lots of weight. I was happy to share with anyone who asked what I changed in my diet because these changes can actually benefit most people. If I can educate anyone and convince them to take better care of themselves, I am more than willing to do so. I am now insulin dependent and even on a very good diet and getting lots of exercise, I cannot lose weight, but I am healthy and happy! ;-) because obese or being over weight can cause diabetes! I like your attitude. It doesn't bother me at all when non-diabetics ask me how I lost weight. Eventually so many did that I wrote it down (see the source url); my doctor now gives copies to his patients. No, it doesn't bother me at all. If more people took care of themselves the way we are supposed to, the doctors and hospitals wouldn't know what to do with all the extra time they would have on their hands. Pharmaceutical companies would be scrambling. My lifestyle isn't hard at all, so I'm not sure where you're coming from, exactly. My diabetes is no problem whatsoever. Now the fibromyalgia, on the other hand, is a royal pain. |
