Can I marry a diabetic patient..? |
Hello, i mean to say, if i involve in sex with my husband(who is diabetic from 1 yr). Is it going to make me also diabetic? and What are the chances of my child to be diabetic? 1. Diabetes is not communicable between sexual partners. Essentials of diagnosis-Diabetes Mellitus. diabetes is not infectious, so how can you get it if you don't have it already? you're being 25years old should've known that. Maybe you're not ready for marriage yet. the chances of you getting diabetes are slim if you follow a healthy lifestyle. And your family members donot have any past history of diabetes. Well first of all you can't catch diabetes from someone. Depending on what kind of diabetes he has there is a chance your children will have it. You don't really seem to know much about diabetes so I would suggest that you start reading and/or going to a support group to learn more about the disease. Your going to have to know much more than you do if your going to help your boyfriend/husband manage his diabetes. If he takes good care of himself he will have a normal life span. The main things he needs to do, especially if he's on insulin injections is to test his blood up to 4 times a day take his medications as directed, eat a balanced diet as recommended be the diabetes association, If he's over weight he should with his doctors help try to loose weight, No alcohol, get exercise, and make sure he has regular checkups that include checking his feet. (diabetics have problems with ulcers. My best advice is that you educate yourself on the disease so you understand how it effects him and what you can do to make sure he stays healthy. Hope this helps. Google it...Diabetes is NOT a sexually transmitted diesease! Diabetes is nowhere near a death sentence. I'm sure he'll be fine. If he doesn't take insulin, then he's fine. Since he only takes a medication, there's a large chance that he's type 2, the "good" kind (I use that term loosely.) No, you cannot catch it from anyone, not from sex or by any other way. If he was dx'd one year ago, he's likely type 2. Being overweight and having a family history of the disease are the biggest contributors to type 2. If you have kids, they may be at risk, but if they eat well, and stay fit, they can live many years and maybe never develop it. My father was diagnosed at 75 and he is 80 now and is still healthy. I am 48 and am the only one of my 5 brothers and sisters to get it- but I was overweight for many years, which I am certain brought the disease on earlier. You're husband can live many years and be healthy, but he must be careful about what he eats, exercize, and take any medication the doctors advise- religiously. He's lucky- diabetes cannot be cured but it is one of the disease that we can control by lifestyle choices, in most instances. |
