My friend is a diabetic.?

She is 13, and diagnosed at 12. Lately her life has been going downhill. She is failing mathematics, has diabetes, and athletics is weakening her. She starts to get shaky near the middle of athletics, and then just slows own entirely.
Our coaches work us too hard, and play favoritism, making us those who are unpopular get paid less attention to, unless we slow down when we are running. Our newest Coach, let's call her Crybaby (her name is Cryer) made up these things called "Gushers". It is four times up and down the gym (quite large)

She once made us do 28 of them, and my diabetic (that is what I call her, my diabetic) went to 48. She just looked....dead. I was afraid. After that, they called her weak behind her back, and they asked her if she was joinng next year after she told them she had blood taken out to see if there was anything else wrong with her (something she does NOT need ight now)
She told them she didn't know, and the youngest Coach Talksalot (Talkington) said,

"I would strongly advise against it."

What am I supposed to do? My diabetic has been going through hard times, and when she finds out something bad, she makes a gun out of her hand and pretends to shoot herself. At first I took it as a joke, but now she does it too often.

I know sh wouldn't do it, but isn't that what everyone says before they find out their friend jumped out of a building? My true question is what should I do about her and my coaches?

Your friends parents should have had a meeting with the school teachers and explained about the diabetes.

Please stop calling your friend "your diabetic ".Even though she may laugh , this is not respectful. I don't even like the word "diabetic ".I am much more than my diabetes.I am a person with diabetes.

How would you like it if she called you her zit face or shorty ?
She is simply , your friend.

Exercise lowers blood sugar. Lower amount of meds taken before exercising.

Type 1 diabetes is considered a disability, and they should have a 504 in place, which is a plan that tells them how they're supposed to handle certain situations. She should have snacks on hand during gym, her sugars are obviously going low. And if her school work is suffering than her sugars are bad at other times too. You need to talk to your friend, and ask her what her parent's have arranged with the school. If nothing is being done, than someone needs to intervene. Those teachers need to be educated ... not just in good manners, but they need to know how diabetes effects her. This is nothing to laugh about, this girl is suffering and if she goes low like that her life could be in danger.

--edit--

I'm not exaggerating ... low blood sugars can cause her to pass out, have a seisure, and she can die right away. See what you can do.

I understand that your FRIEND wants to be normal.... Where are her parents? Why are they not involved? Maybe she needs to find a new activity. Coaches are there to be supportive. If your coaches are not, the school board needs to know. There are other exercises in life not as demanding then what you are describing. Maybe modern or jazz dancing. She may be insecure facing a change alone. Find someone you both know or maybe you see her through a change. She may be afraid of disappointing you, her friend, and leaving you to face the athletics alone. We had dance, tumbling, soccer, golf, gymnastics, swimming, cheer leading and a host of other sports at my school. We also had choir, theater, art, cooking, sewing, debating and science clubs. Sports are not the only thing.

I don't know why it is, but most phys ed teachers seem to have muscle between the ears and a lack of brains. Yours unfortunately appear to have the common affliction.
Calling someone who can't do the tasks put before them in phys ed "weak" is a way to chop them off at the knees to make them look bigger.
Have your friend talk to the doctor and seek advice about changing the regime to allow for phys ed or get a note from the doctor outlining
a) that there is a problem
b) what is acceptable levels of activity
c) legal action can follow if they don't pay attention to the first 2. That usually gets their attention.

Gether to drink a juice box with sugar before she does athletics and then maybe she wont go low!

Does the coach know that she is diabetic cuz that is really rude calling someone that, If the coach doesn't know then tell the coach!
