Mother is diabetic?

Okay, my mom is diabetic. And has been since she was 18. Lately, she has been saying that her vision is "cloudy". And I know a lot about diabeties, but is this a sign of oncoming blindness? She is Type1 diabetic. (which means she is insulin dependant) And more probs run in these types of diabetics.

I am not a doctor, but I am a Diabetes Health Educator.. Your mother vision problems could be any number of things. How old is she? As we all know, age can usually bring on vision issues.
As for the diabetes issue, the cloudy vision could be related. Diabetic neuropathy (a blood vessel disorder in the eye) could be the culprit. Also, if your mom's blood glucose levels are consistently in good control, she could experience vision problems. Both high and low blood glucose levels can bring on changes in eyesight.

Your mom should discuss this issue with her doctor or diabetes specialist. Chances are that he / she will refer her to an eye specialist who knows more about the conditions at hand.
Good luck and best wishes...
