I am a diabetic,should I marry my dibetic boyfriend? |
I am diabetic. My doctor advise against marrying my diabetic boyfriend, for reasons of sexual dysfunction and high probabilty of diabetic children.Any experineced diabetic couples would mean a lot ... Ask yourself one question do you love him. what if you were already married for a few years and found out later in life that that you were diabetics. Do you think your Dr would have told you to divorce him. Diabetes can happen to anyone anytime. Do what makes you happy that's all that matters. Good luck if you love your husband nothing else matters It could work out very well because Diabetes is a very difficult disease to live with. You could have your own support group and work together to help control it. Menu planning, cooking and eating together could really help. I know families where everyone is diabetic. if you love each other what difference does it make. octors always give you the bad news not the good.true love only happens once yes u can , i mean u should.... Ok, this doc sounds like an idiot, the reason people get married is for love (well it's supposed to be) and not how compatible they are health wise. Your doctor advised the real happenings. It is a medical advice; his advice is only for your good. Always follow strictly the medical advice for your better future. Thing of your children and future generation through both of you. Wish you all the best. Honey, if you love him and want to marry him, tell your doctor to eat **** and die. I'm insulin dependent, was diagnosed in 1986 at age 24. They told me to forget about ever having children, it would be too hard on me and the baby. I listened and never took that chance. It's now one of my biggest regrets. Sure, I'd hate to pass it on to my child, but there are all kinds of new treatments and hopefully some day soon they'll find a cure. Besides, more and more research is saying diabetes is triggered by an illness, not heredity. Neither of my parents are diabetics. There have been numerous advancements in the past twenty years. You and your boyfriend take good care of yourselves to lessen your complications....and if and when you do decide to get pregnant stay in excellent control. As for sexual dysfunction....same advice...keep in good control...and keep in mind sexual dysfunction isn't something just reserved for diabetics. It's happens to regular people too. Best wishes for a happy, fulfilled future. Your doctor has a minor point. Major point is: Do you love him enough to spend the rest of your life with him and deal with your shared problems? If you are type II and do a good job at controlling your blood sugar, sex shouldn't be too much of a problem. With regard to children, that's another story... If we're talking type II, then with proper education on diet and conditioning, there's no reason your kids can't have a normal life. If we're talking type I, then I wouldn't risk it. Type II is a breeze (at least for me) when compared to type I. First off, Im thinking if you are wondering about marrying someone you love on the basis of your disorder then there are bigger problems here. You would have a higher chance of having kids with diabetes, but if you love him and he loves you, you shouldn't listen to your doctor. Just listen to what your heart tells you. What kind of question is that? Just because the both of you are diabetic doesn't mean you can't get married. Yes there is a chance your children could be diabetic but you know ways to prevent them from becoming diabetics. |
