Pre-diabetic - foods to stay away from/avoid? |
i am pre diabetic and ive heard alot about white potates white rice bread and that sorta thing...fruits and veggies are a given..so what else? can or cant i eat? meal ideas that are not too complex? It's not about the food so much. You have to count carbs. Try calorieking.com - Don't go over 50 - 70 carbs per meal. Some fruit can really raise your glucose levels. Read this link and others like it. Educate yourself. getting a dietician to help manage your diet would be helpful as they can calculate how many calories you specifically need. Go to the american diatetic association for more info. Follow the food pyramid guidelines. All things in moderation. Go see a diabetc educator and dietician. Watch your simple carbs--bread, rice, etc. I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant and had to count carbs and eat a certain amount every few hours to help keep my blood sugar stable. Have you ever heard of pre-pregnant? Either you're diabetic or you're not. If you have to watch your carbohydrate consumption it's a fair guess that you are diabetic. |
