Is there such a thing as being diabetic then not being diabetic? |
I know pregnant women can be classified as diabetic during their pregnancy then not be considered diabetic after their pregnncy. Actually the answer is YES kinda, but only in Type II diabetics. People are too vague in their answers or just don't have all the information to give an educated answer. Currently there is no cure for type I diabetes, often referred to as juvinelle diabetes. With Type II diabetes there is hope. The leading cause of Type II diabetes is obesity, majority of the time the body has become "resistant" to insulin - the key is the body still produces insulin is just doesn't know what to do with it. With a change in eating habits and exercise a person can reverse the problem that has caused their body to become insulin resistant. Patients with type II diabetes often do not need treatment with oral antidiabetic medication or insulin if they lose weight. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/462362... As a diabetic diagnosed 30 years ago, with good medical awareness, and as one who has seen everyone in his family develop diabetes, well the answer is No. One can control it excellently like some people do, and lead almost a normal life. But medical science does not have any cases where the diabetic tendency of the body had been reversed. This is a general observation. Doctors also believe those who have hypertension and diabetes, plus good medical awareness, live a longer life! Once a diabetic always a diabetic. It just depends on how well you control your blood glucose level. Some people are able to control it with just what they eat and others need medication along with watching their diet. Yes, gestational diabetes can happen when a woman is pregnant and then be fine after the pregnancy; but she is a likely candidate to become Type 2 diabetic later in life. once a diabetic your allways one |
