Pre-diabetic?

What does that term mean?
Does always craving sweets(not just the ussual sweet tooth) mean I could be diabetic?
What are the signs and symptoms of being diabetic?
If I had gestational diabeties is it almost certain I will develop type 2 Diabeties?

The cravings have nothing to do with diabetes.

If your sugar is high you will feel exhausted, cotton mouthed, urinating frequently. If your sugar is low you will be irritable and tired.

Gestational diabetes is not permanent.

basically, it means that with your present living style etc that
you could become diabetic. Watch your weight, exercise,
and keep the carbohydrates and sugars down. Check with
your doc and some of the following answers and you'll have
all the info you need (normally, pre-diabetic is reversible
with change in diet/lifestyles)

Probably half the population ofthe United States is pre-diabetic. This is not an idle statement. It's from a doctor, whose speciaty was diabetes.

If you're concerned tell your doctor. An annual blood test might be in order.

Yes, I am talking vegan here. Why? because animal fat & protein are the biggest culprits of the disease. Type 2 diabetes is known as a disease of affluence. Meaning that those in poor countries (where they don't eat proccessed foods, or alot of animal fat/protien) don't get the disease.
Is it hard to do?
Yes.
Any change is hard, especially a drastic one, but is your life/health worth it?

As for gestational diabeties, no it is not certain, however you are more likely to develop type 2 than if you hadn't had it.
