Is this true?!?!?

i'm taking amoxicillin for dermatology reasons but I heard it also treats common std's like chlamydia and gonorrhea. this is just from curiosity because i know that amoxicillin is in the penicillin family and cures ear infections, if so its almost like an all purpose antibiotic.

Yes it is true! It treats bacterial viruses and those stds you named are bacterial. im a future ob/gyn and i took amoxillian numerous times and read about it. i dont know what the doses needed are but im sure it would kill it within a few doses.

must be. I took amoxicillin for strep throat a few weeks back.

Amoxicillin, Ampicillin, Penecyllin, Methlocyllin, are all broad spectrum antibiotics, used to treat a wide range of infectious disease, including some STDs. Be aware, that use of antibiotics to treat acne can result in infections that are resistant to those drugs.

No, it will not cure STD's go to a doctor if you think you have one. certain STD's can be cured but others can't but antibiotics will not cure them.

There are medications that are good for several infections, they are called general antibiotics. Cipro is one.

No there are specific medicine for STD. and if you think you have one you need to make sure it is taken care of properly and double test before and after the medicine. You have have an STD you need to get HIV test also
