Depression??

well..i've firgured out that for a fact...i have at least mild depression. i've been feeling pretty down for awhile...and the problem is...i wanna tell my mom..but its really hard. cuz if i tell her , she'll get upset and i'll get more upset even more. my older brother has gone through depression but has never been treated for it. My mom knows about my brother though and i havent told her about me yet. i thought about writing my mom a note about this but i also think i should tell her in person. someone help me? =/

It's good that you are not in denial...most people never get that far. You should tell you mom, but when you are ready. You should also go to a psychiatrist and I know that meds help. To be honest with you I think that if you seek God...that really helps too. This is coming from someone who has lived with a person who has depression. Good luck and you will be in my prayers.

You should let her know however you are most comfortable but by all means tell someone you trust. You don't have to feel this way.

If your family has already dealt with someone who has depression I'm guessing your mom probably already knows about yours but didn't want to bring it up, maybe she thought you might be offended or something. I'd talk to her about it. She might be upset but I bet she suspects something and I know she would want to get you some help. It sucks being depressed but if you talk to someone about it...it doesn't seem as bad. Try a counselor...they are often better to talk to because they validate your feelings and issues.

I think...you should tell her. even if it DOES make you AND her upset, you should still say something about it. It will hurt but it'll hurt even more if you don't say anything. So tell her, get it treated. Lots of people care too much about you to want you to be depress!

Don't write a note no matter how comforting it as apposed to telling her in person. It seems too...intimate to just write a note about. So tell her!

Hope you feel better. :]

Your first step toward feeling better is to break the silence

Speak to your guidance counselor or a social worker
Ask for help

Depression can be treated....the sooner the better

If things get too bad, call 911 and say 'I need help'
