Question about partial dentures? |
I have received upper partial dentures today and the lower dentures are still being worked on. The dentist filed down my natural eye teeth when he fitted me for the lower partials. I couldn't understand the reason he gave me for doing this, he is from another country and doesn't speak clearly sometimes. When I looked in the mirror at home I noticed that the artificial upper tooth that is next to my natural eye tooth is longer than the other natural upper teeth and it sort of looks like a small vampire's tooth. I'm wondering if he filed down my natural teeth to make up for problems with the partials instead of sending back the partials to get them fixed? Is this a possibility, and what can I do? Thanks for taking the time to respond. It sounds like he was making a channel way and rest seat for the clasp. He may have adjusted the tooth to make the bite better because he didn't make enough room for the clasp and the metal of a partial is extremely difficult to grind on. I don't for sure without looking. Make sure you ask lots of questions of your dentist, word it different ways if necessary until he understands. Make him explain things in different ways until it makes sense to you |
