Are dentures always uncomfortable or do you get used to them in time?

I am dreading the day I might loose all my teeth and have to wear dentures.

It's not the teeth, it's the thought of having something stuck to the roof of my mouth that makes me panic.

Every person is different in their adjustment to complete or partial dentures. To help with their speech, I recommend they read out loud at home. Initially, the mouth thinks the denture is an object to be digested and lots of saliva might be produced. Soon you will get used to the denture and it will become part of yourself. If you develop sore spots, they will not go away on their own and requires an adjustment be made by your dentist. Some people require lots of adjustments, some none at all. It all depends on the individual. Upper dentures are easier for the patient to adjust to, but the lowers are considered "floating" and they are the usual culprit for any frustrations new wearers have. The more ridge you have on the lower, the less likely you will have problems. Implant dentures are a great option for most people. You should consult with a periodontist to see if you are a candidate for the implant first. Cost is obviously higher due to the implants and implant denture, but the patients who have them swear by them.

you will get used to them
the body is amazing in that it gets used to things and soon you don't even notice
like a bad realtionship that you just stay in.........jk

dont panic most of have to wear/have them sometime or other, its like having a new pair of shoes, they are tight at first & take some getting used to but once they are broken in you dont know you have got them on/in

It truly becomes second nature and comfortable, but any sign of initial rubbing, you must check it out.

You will get used to them. My aunt has dentures and she doesn't even feel them half the time.

You can always get screw in teeth, like I have. I lost most of mine & my dentist fitted me nearly all new teeth, into the sockets. They have been done now for 15 years & I have only broken one off, which was repaired. Best thing I ever did, I hate the thought of a plate in the mouth.

I have now been wearing a full set for 3 weeks. (Had all me rotten teeth removed 4 weeks ago) Dentist told me it takes up to 3 months to get used to them. However, I am now quite comfy with mine. there is a 'plastic' taste for the first week or so, and you need to learn to eat in a slightly different way, but overall no problems and the best thing I have ever done!

Take very good care of your teeth and keep them the rest of your life . I work in a dental office and when we make someone dentures usually they do get use to them .But ive never heard anyone say I gladly do this again . Most times if they could go back and change things they would have taken better care of their teeth and done whatever needed to keep them .

Take care or your teeth and you can keep them all of your life
