Denture cleaning, whats the best way to clean off the hard deposits that can build up on dentures?

are the ultra sonic baths any good to clean dentures or any other way please

steradent

you should of thought of that with your own teeth

A long soak in "Sterident" tablets dissolved in water has de-calcified my Grandad's. He swears by it.

I have had a front set of false teeth since 1975. To hell with the Steradents and other money making cleaners. I have used ordinary household bleach in hot water and it makes them beautifuly clean. It even cleans the nicotine stains off in no time. In the 32 years involved I have only needed 3 sets.

You can try an old-school remedy of diluted apple cider vinegar. 1 part cider to 1/2 part water. Soak over night. You can go to your dentist and have them soak and clean your dentures for you and then maintain the clean longer by using a hard brush on them instead of a soft one. (If you have your natural teeth too, don't use a hard brush on those, just on your denture.) Brush before soaking, soak all night, then brush again in the morning. I don't have a great answer about which works better for soaking, but if you'll do a good job of daily maintenance it will stay cleaner longer.
The sonic baths would be fine to use...great idea actually. It is just like what we use in the office, maybe less strong, but it will help I'm sure. Don't soak in bleach!

go to your dentist and ask the dental hygienist to scale the hard deposits off with the "cavitron" (it's an ultrasonic hand scaler we use to remove heavy deposits from our patients teeth) i do it all the time for my patients. also to prevent this form building up, brush the dentures every night with a denture brush and soak them with a denture cleaning tablet. the ultra sonic baths only work a little it won't remove it all.
