Dentistry Question...? |
PLEASE ONLY ANSWER IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE IN THIS FIELD I think that you would be able to work as an assistant part-time and take classes. You want to get great grades so full-time is probably not a good idea. You may even be able to start in a dental office as a sterilization assistant while you are taking the certified assistant courses. I went to one that was available at night. I think that you are VERY smart to make sure dentistry is the right field for you. However, if you are working for a dentist that you don't get along with... move on to another dentist before making a decision about dentistry all together. As with any field, there are some rotten apples in the barrel. I would ask your dentist if you could shadow him/her. Explain what your concerns are and most docs would love to have you in their office to help you decide if this is the vocation for you. I'd advise against spending the time needed to become a dental assistant and concentrate on your college education. Most offices aren't going to want to hire you as a temporary employee as it takes time to learn the office. Good luck! |
