Dental sealants for children? |
My 10 year old daughter is getting dental sealants. I have found out lots of info about the procedure, but I can't find any info on how long she should wait to eat afterwards. Is there a waiting period for her to eat and if so how long? She will be able to eat or drink right away because they will be cured with a light. They may a bit funny to her bite for a day or two but will return to normal. Good for you for getting sealants on her teeth! This help decrease her getting decay started in this molars. If I remember, it was like an hour after. It is not a big deal and the dentist will remind you. The dentist will tell you the day they put them on. I had to have one of mine redone about a year ago. I don't think it was very long...maybe about an hour until I could eat. Ask your dentist to be sure, but that should at least give you an idea for planning when to feed her. When sealants are done, they are light cured to harden them. So she can eat as soon as they are done. the dentist should be able to answer all your questions You can eat right away after it's done. It's light cured and the material is going to be as set as it can get. The waiting period after sealants is usally due to the f2 that many offices give after placing sealants. You can eat right away if you have sealants placed no big deal, however if they give your child a f2 treatment, then they usually have to wait about thirty minutes. SHE CAN EAT AS SOON AS YOU LEAVE. THE SEALANT IS AS HARD AS IT IS GOING TO GET WHEN YOU LEAVE THE OFFICE. Yes, my 6 year old just had three put on her molars. They use a special light to harden them. I was told she could eat right away. ur daughter can start eatin once the procedure is over. cos dental sealants r only a thin layer on the biting surface n it gets light cured. light curing helps to harden the sealant n ur child can go abt with her normal activities after tat. Don't worry and trust me.She can eat and drink just after pit and fissure sealant placement without any waiting period.[because it's light cure] |
